Dallas is situated on the rolling prairies of northeast Texas, where the three divisions of the Trinity River merge. It is the second-largest city in Texas and the eighth-largest city in the United States.
It has a great community college enrolment. Dallas and its nearby societies are home to 45 colleges and universities, which fascinate more than 250,000 students to the area each year. Public universities in the Dallas area include the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at Dallas, and Texas Women's University. The Dallas County Community College District consists of seven colleges located throughout Dallas County. These colleges enroll nearly 100,000 students each semester.
Dallas, a modern metropolis in north Texas, is a commercial and cultural hub of the region. The Sixth Floor Museum, the John F. Kennedy Memorial, and the Conspiracy Museum all explore the life of President John F. Kennedy and his eventual assassination in Dallas. The Sixth Floor Museum is in the former Texas School Book Depository, the site from where Lee Harvey Oswald shot President Kennedy. The city is probably best known for its cotton products. Dallas is becoming a high-tech centre, and the Infomart complex has offices and showrooms for many high-tech information companies.
Dallas has a Sunbelt climate, with hot summers and mild winters. Average highs in July are close to 53°C (96°F), while average lows in January only dip to 19°C (34°F). It rarely snows in Dallas. Annual average rainfall is 81 centimetres (32 inches). Dallas' Sunbelt climate offers an average of 237 sunny days per year.
